Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1770.

Cherry tall-case clock. The hood has a molded arch pediment with pierced fretwork, a central wooden ball-and-spire finial on a plinth flanked by two turned elongated-ball-and-spire finials on plinths, fluted free-standing columns with crass capitals and bases at the front corers, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top, chamfered front corners with shaped scrolled tops and bottoms, and a rectangular case door with concave and convex roundels. Base with cove and ovolo molding at the top, ogee molding at the bottom and supported on ogee bracket feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and a roundel with an engraved image of a bird in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring there is a seconds dial with an engraved floral motif, a calendar aperture and a name plaque engraved "Benjan Willard Grafton." Eight day movement.
